🐛TRANSFORMATION🦋
For our creative inspiration, we turned to Kintsugi, the ancient Japanese method of repairing broken pottery with gold. This art form highlights the cracks to honor what has once been broken, and serves as a metaphor for investigating how our development, experiences and self-awareness play interconnected roles in the forming & transforming of our ever-evolving identities.

🌟GLOW-IN-THE-DARK🪼
The natural world offers so many exciting examples of luminous light occurring in a dark environment (fireflies, bioluminescent algae, aurora borealis, lightning). Through the creation of altered books, we explored how these remarkable elements could spark inspiration, and demonstrate how we, too, embody a light within us.

💫GRAVITY💫.
The powerful force that holds our feet on the ground and keeps our solar system in orbit was the metaphor we returned to each week as we designed and assembled each component of our personal mobile.

꩜LABYRINTHS & MAZES𑿛
Labyrinths have a singular, intentional path into the center and can represent the introspective journey of our inner selves. Mazes, on the other hand, present multiple options and require searching and decision-making to ultimately find your way through and can represent the work of our outer lives. Using enlarged images of our unique fingerprints as a foundation, we created artwork based on these metaphors.

❇KALEIDOSCOPE❄️
Through the construction of a working kaleidoscope, and multiple personalized lenses, participants were invited to reflect on transitions, patterns, and the constancy of change in their own lives. The series of art projects within this group explored the ways we choose to share or conceal parts of ourselves, and expanded awareness of the various perspectives through which we view the world inside and around us.

💭DREAMS🦄.
During the process of creating these comforting and unique stuffed friends, group members considered their relationship with sleep, ritual, dreams and memories. We shared our personal hopes & goals for the future that lies ahead, and centered rest as an essential form of self-care and self-compassion.
